Digital Skills are working with a great client on a complex integration programme of work who are in need of a Programme Test Manager. This candidate will need to lead testing initiatives across multiple projects and manage the delivery of large-scale programmes focusing on test assurance and system integration.

The responsibilities include designing and implementing test strategies that efficiently identify issues and risks in the software solutions while maintaining quality and reliability. Additionally, you will oversee the integration of systems to ensure seamless functionality and performance, contributing to the strategic planning and execution of projects to enhance overall effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee comprehensive test strategies and master test plans for client programmes, adapting methodologies to suit project needs.
  • Manage several testing workstreams simultaneously, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timely delivery of high-quality outcomes.
  • Prioritise tasks effectively to ensure the most critical and impactful work is completed first, while maintaining a balanced workload for the team.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage teams of test managers and testers, fostering a collaborative and productive environment. This includes conducting training sessions, providing guidance on career development, and promoting a positive team culture.
  • Act as the point of escalation for testing teams, providing guidance and support to resolve complex issues and mitigate risks.
  • Set up continuous improvement initiatives, mentoring programmes, and junior staff development plans to enhance the skills and capabilities of the testing team.
  • Collaborate with programme managers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure testing aligns with business requirements and project timelines.
  • Ensure the implementation of best practices in testing processes and maintain documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Manage the budget for testing activities, ensuring optimal resource allocation and cost-effectiveness.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in testing methodologies to continually enhance our testing practices.
  • Provide detailed reports and feedback to senior management on test outcomes and quality metrics.

Skills and experience required:

  • Extensive experience in agile software testing and quality assurance, including significant experience in a managerial role of a large testing team.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale testing programmes across multiple platforms and environments.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Extensive background in testing and assuring AWS cloud-based services.
  • Comprehensive experience in CI/CD pipelines and test automation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to tackle complex testing challenges and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder expectations at various levels of seniority.
  • Proficient in various testing tools and technologies, with certifications in ISTQB/AWS or similar being highly advantageous.
