Unix Systems Administrator (Cloud Migration) - Mostly remote - £500 - £550/day - OUTSIDE IR35
A rapidly expanding AI company in London are looking for a skilled Unix Systems Administrator to play a pivotal role in keeping their on-premise infrastructure running smoothly while they embark on a journey to the cloud.
The Unix Systems Administrator will be doing the following:
- Unix Expertise: Manage and maintain their Unix environment, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Network expert: Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize our network infrastructure (Switches, Routers) to guarantee reliable connectivity.
- Data Center: Keep their data centre in London operational, including assisting with an upcoming data center migration.
- Servers: Proactively monitor and maintain their server fleet, identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
- Cloud: Assist with the migration of their infrastructure to either GCP or AWS, potentially involving code modification for compatibility.
- API: Facilitate the transition of their databases to the cloud, including API changes and integration with cloud services.
The ideal Unix Systems Administrator will have experience with the following:
- Proven experience as a Unix/Network Engineer (minimum 5 years)
- Solid understanding of network technologies (routing, switching) and data center operations
- Experience with server administration and monitoring tools
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments
- A willingness to learn and adapt as we migrate to the cloud (GCP or AWS)
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Bonus points for:
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS)
- Programming experience (bash Scripting)
- Data center migration experience
