Java Software Engineer (Permanent)

Location: Edinburgh, Scotland Country: UK Rate: £30k - £45k per annum

A Scottish Tech Org that operate in the space sector, with an office in Edinburgh, are going through a period of growth and are looking for an additional Java Software Engineer to join their core product function - Hybrid working (once a week in office).

They've been operating successfully now for over ten years and have almost doubled in size over the past few years, as a result of successful funding campaigns. The organisation operate in the space sector and their products are used for a whole host of different reasons; environmental, safety, defence etc. The project work is genuinely really interesting which has a really positive impact globally (happy to discuss some of their applications further).

Their Engineering function is already pretty established, and they're looking to really grow this year. You'd be joining one of their core services which is a crucial component with their overall product. Given the nature of the work they do, they've suggested there is a pretty steep learning curve here, however they have a really supportive and collaborative environment with a dedicated team lead and several other Engineers to lean on.

You'll find yourself working in small squads and at times your own dedicated project, so are looking for Engineers that would feel confident enough in time for this. Additionally, the organisation place a really strong importance on developing robust, well-documented and tested software - so are looking for someone that has worked in this kind of environment before.

You'll ideally have a couple years of commercial experience with the following;

* Java

* Databases (Ideally relational Databases)

* Working with a Linux environment

Experience with the following is highly desirable;

* Working within a best practices environment (with a defined development process)

* An interest or experience working in the space/aviation sector

The organisation are based in Edinburgh, where they support hybrid working. They have suggested it would be ideal if people can pop into the offices once a week for team meetings, and it's usually helpful if people can pop in on occasion when first joining to help with the learning curve, but they're flex on this.

In return they're able to offer a salary from £30k to £45k for this role, with good benefits to match which include (36 days holiday, 6% pension, Long-term sickness cover, enhanced Maternity and Paternity leave + much more).

The company definitely pride themselves in being an employee orientated company (which is highlighted with the strong tenure of many of their staff members), they're also committed to investing in your development where you're able to sign up for training courses and regularly attend relevant events and conferences.

If you're keen to find out more, please apply or drop Doug Paget at Cathcart Technology a message to discuss further.
