Location - Remote with very occasional need to travel to London
Salary - Up to £72,000 + Benefits
The Position:
This is a specialist role focused upon the design and development, use and adoption of Cloud services, helping the business to unlock the potential of Microsoft Cloud services, building new foundations for future growth, using cutting-edge technologies to solve challenges as we are focused upon our mission of reducing our cost to serve and improving our user experience, resilience, and security.
In addition to providing subject matter expertise, this is a hands-on role and part of a team responsible for the support, management, and maintenance of the core infrastructure and cloud services that underpins our production services, delivered as platform services to other teams and the wider organisation.
Key responsibilities (But not limited to)
* Lead projects to deliver well-architected Azure solutions for application modernisation and native cloud development projects.
* Instil a culture of automation across Azure workloads, automating as many processes as possible.
* Ensure appropriate monitoring is in place to support the optimisation of our cloud environments for cost, resilience, and performance.
* Mentor colleagues on technical and non-technical cloud concepts.
* Lead the design, build, configuration, administration, and management the Cloud technologies, systems, and components, include computing, storage, software, commercial-off-the-shelf software (COTS), and open-source packages and solutions, to ensure they meet business needs and performance targets.
* Apply technical and specialist knowledge and skills through collaboration and creativity to support the successful delivery of programmes, projects, and other sanctioned initiatives.
* Perform technical support activities and carry out agreed or routine maintenance and administration tasks applying specialist knowledge and modern enterprise management principles aligned to industry and organisational best practices, standards, service requirements including security, compliance, and resilience requirements.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of managing Azure environments, including network traffic, subscriptions, accounts, users, groups, and billing within Azure.
- Strong understanding of Azure platform components and services, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, and ability to review and align existing Azure environments to best practices, being able to align business requirements with Azure capabilities.
- Strong understanding of Azure services, including App Service, API Management, Event Hub, Service Bus, Azure Spring Cloud, Key Vault, and Azure Monitor.
- Strong knowledge and skill set using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with tools, such as Terraform and Azure Resource Manager (ARM), templates for infrastructure provisioning.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft identity management, including Microsoft Entra, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and Azure AD Connect.
- Strong knowledge of Azure cost management design principles, monitoring, and optimisation.
- Strong Scripting skills, including PowerShell, Bash, and Python, Ansible, for infrastructure automation, configuration management, and task automation.
- And a strong understanding of Azure Monitor and Azure Automate.
- Deep understanding of Azure security best practices and compliance standards, including the implementation of security measures for data protection/privacy and regulatory compliance, including managing Azure Update Management Centre.
- Proficiency in resource provisioning and scaling with the ability to review existing Azure environments and align to best practice.
- Good understanding of Express Routes, VWAN, load balancers, DNS, virtual networks, and Firewalls in Azure environments and routing protocols, such as BGP.
