Senior Software Engineer (Permanent)

Location: London Country: UK Rate: £85k - £125k per annum + Negotiable + Bonus & Equity

Overview

  • An exciting opportunity to join an ambitious Cloud Technology organisation expanding their UK engineering team developing next-generation cloud services.
  • They are pre scale up so joining at this early stage, you will have the opportunity to significantly shape the codebase, drive the direction of future product development and collaborate closely together with other leaders in the field.
  • The ideal profiles would be for a senior and a mid-level engineer with a background in distributed systems (Senior - 10-20 years/Mid Level -5-10 years). Work on building Virtual Machine offering as part of the Compute team. Ideal background is someone who has virtual machines or virtual networking experience but open to consider all strong engineers with a background in distributed systems.

Technical Knowledge Required:

  • Strong background in distributed systems and Linux systems engineering
  • Coding in programming languages such as C, C++, Golang or Rust.
  • Experience in building and enhancing compute, storage, and data platforms with exposure to open source products like Kubernetes, Knative, Ceph, Rook, Cassandra, Spark, Nate etc.
  • Hands-on exp. with IaC tools and automation, such as Terraform, Ansible, or Helm.
  • Active engagement or contributions to the open-source community.
  • Familiarity with software build processes and secure supply systems, like Bazel or OpenSSF.

The role

  • You will have an opportunity to team up with fellow engineers to craft tailored solutions meeting their unique challenges.
  • Forge and refine tools that power team efficiency-this includes CI/CD, local development setups, build toolchains, and essential infrastructure.
  • Plot the roadmap for software component development, aligning with team priorities and vision.
  • Lead the charge in defining and achieving their technical benchmarks
  • Seamlessly integrate and upkeep open-source components within their evolving tech stack.
