Our Finance team ensure we are accountable and on track to company strategies. Their responsibilities include forecasting, in-season management, and analysis across business units. From sales and margin to operations and expenses, our Finance team provides consistent, accurate information to cross-functional partners to support PetSmart's growth initiatives.

Collaborative Work Environment:

In a standard work week, associates may work up to one remote flex day (with leader approval). The Role: As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will be integral to our financial strategy and planning, helping to shape the future of our business. You'll partner with key departments, lead critical financial processes, and provide actionable insights that drive our success. Your expertise will influence major enterprise projects and strategic decisions, offering a unique opportunity to make a significant impact.

What You'll Do:

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis:

  • Develop and refine financial models and forecasts to guide strategic decisions and enhance business performance.
  • Lead the annual planning and monthly forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  • Conduct comprehensive variance and trend analyses, identifying risks and opportunities to drive financial strategies.

Business Partnership & Problem Solving:

  • Act as a trusted advisor, bridging Finance with key business units like Store Operations, Marketing, and Merchandising.
  • Present data-driven insights to senior leaders and drive actionable outcomes through collaborative reviews.
  • Uncover and address key business performance risks and opportunities, delivering solutions to complex financial challenges.

Metrics & Project Support:

  • Serve as the go-to expert for investigating and addressing ad hoc business questions with data-driven insights.
  • Support the Finance Manager/Sr. Director in critical projects and analyses, contributing to high-impact initiatives.
  • Mentor junior team members, fostering their growth and development.

What We're Looking For:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in finance or a related analytical field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or CPA is highly desirable.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Power BI, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Expertise in analyzing large datasets and presenting findings clearly.
  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts, P&L statements, and financial problem-solving.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Motivated, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of database warehouse tools (eg, MicroStrategy) is a plus.
