Purpose and Scope:
To serve in a cross-functional process improvement role on the Madewell Operations team that includes both analytical/data and business strategy support. Responsible for process definition, adherence, and socialization between Sourcing, Merch, Design and Planning teams. This person will also help define and implement KPIs to create greater transparency and visibility to the sourcing organization's performance. Role reports to the Manager of Madewell Operations.
Responsibilities:
- General Management
- Foster strong relationships within cross-functional teams
- Establish operational credibility in order to effectively communicate new process changes
- Provide process development expertise to support business process design and documentation
- Regularly review process/tool adoption and effectively resolve roadblocks
- Provide analytical support to determine the root cause of process issues
- Support operational strategic initiatives
- Business Process Management
- Understand new calendar milestones and handoff points needed to achieve transformational change objectives
- Develop and monitor detailed process steps needed to meet calendar milestones
- Develop metrics to report on process adherence within product development and production teams
- Provide status updates to management, escalating risks and offering remediation options
- Analytical Support
- Provide analytical support to manage sample spend reduction targets by breaking down budgets to manageable targets and metrics
- Develop metrics to monitor in-season adherence to goals for various budget/spend management (includes bulk liabilities, fabric, garment samples)
- Develop and manage scorecards to report adherence by vendors, mills, and internal departments
- Create, understand and data visualizations for forward-looking strategy projects
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an analytical role, preferably within a Sourcing knowledge
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in the apparel industry
- Strong track record of project delivery and benefits realization
- Experience in implementing projects and initiatives in a self-directed manner
- Experience with large scale organization transformations a plus
Skills/Abilities:
- Detail-oriented, analytical and results-driven problem solver
- Ability to work autonomously on projects, great time-management skills and resourceful
- Skilled in executive reporting and dashboarding
- Ability to confidently present findings, discuss highlights, and clearly answer questions posed
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity and limited oversight
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other analytical reporting packages (PowerBI, PowerQuery, Tableau a major plus)
- High proficiency in PowerPoint
